  • WEINSBERG Mercedes‐AMG GT3 dominates the ADAC GT Masters
  • Outstanding performances by both teams in Zandvoort, Netherlands

Jandelsbrunn, 10 June 2024. Knaus Tabbert celebrated two impressive wins this past race weekend in Zandvoort, Netherlands. The GT3 teams, sponsored by WEINSBERG and KNAUS, prevailed against strong competition at the varied and demanding racetrack with its 15 curves right on the North Sea. Both the ADAC GT Masters and DTM racing series shared Circuit Zandvoort and offered the spectators extreme suspense and spectacular racing dynamics on the asphalt.

In the ADAC GT Masters, the young driver duo, Elias Seppänen (20) and Tom Kalender (16), managed to extend their lead with their WEINSBERG OWN Mercedes AMG GT3. On Saturday they established their second win in the third race – and stood on the podium for the third time in the season. The two young drivers, who start for the experienced Landgraf Motorsport team, gave a convincing performance at the wheel. „The big gap back to the car behind me meant that all I actually had to do was manage that lead,‟ reported Tom Kalender on his effort, after he was able to take over the leading WEINSBERG Mercedes‐AMG GT3 from his partner Elias Seppänen for the second half of the race. However, the pair had somewhat less luck on Sunday: In the fourth race of the ADAC GT Masters 2024 season, the competitive duo had to settle for eighth place after a dynamic and exciting race. But with 84 points Seppänen and Kalender are clearly still leading the championship points table.

The weekend was also emotional for the DTM racing series teams. On Saturday, Jack Aitken won against the strong competition with a confident start‐finish victory at the wheel of the KNAUS Ferrari 296 GT3. The British driver starts for the Emil Frey Racing team and won the fifth race of the current DTM season thanks to his impressive performance. „Three race weekends in and I already have two wins to my name, that is awesome,‟ said the 28‐year‐old, who has not let himself get flustered by the pressure of the competition. There was more chaos at the sixth race of the season on Sunday: After some tussling and accidents, two safety car phases sorted out the field again. To make matters worse, Jack Aitken collected three rounds through the penalty lap due to an error in the pit lane by race management – that cost him any chance of another podium place. This meant that he had to give up third place in the current championship standings. He is currently ranked seventh.

Gerd Adamietzki, Director of Sales for Knaus Tabbert AG, is pleased with the successful and exciting progress of the motorsport season: „Our teams have started strong and not slacked off at all – our warmest congratulations go to all those who have achieved these wins with their commitment and enthusiasm! For the upcoming races, we are keeping our fingers tightly crossed for both Elias Seppänen and Tom Kalender in the WEINSBERG OWN Mercedes‐AMG GT3 and Jack Aitken in the KNAUS Ferrari 296 GT3. The season definitely still holds many surprises!”

Both championships are currently at their halfway point. The next races will follow shortly: The DTM continues on the weekend of 5 to 7 July 2024. Then the GT3 race car section meets up at the Norisring, the narrow city circuit in Nuremberg. In the ADAC GT Masters series, the next races follow from 12 to 14 July 2024 at the Nürburgring for the ADAC Truck Grand Prix.
