The New Products at CMT Stuttgart

Stuttgart/Jandelsbrunn (Germany). It’s not without reason that Knaus Tabbert’s slogan is: „We move you!‟ And even Knaus Tabbert is navigating through a dynamic business environment. The entire industry is currently experiencing truly moving times: The camping industry is booming: based on forecasts provided by the Caravanning Industry Association e. V. (CIVD),  the number of newly registered recreational vehicles will continue growing in the new few years.
Knaus Tabbert operates with great success in this incredibly dynamic environment: in 2018, the company, which is headquartered in Lower Bavaria, was again able to increase revenue significantly as well as again achieve growth in the double‐digit percentage range. 2018 was another record year for Knaus Tabbert and simultaneously the best year in the company’s history.

Companies who want to define markets must be successful. With new approaches defined by forward‐looking technologies and unique design, Knaus Tabbert is a highly recognised innovation driver in the industry. And only a highly qualified team even makes this kind of growth as well as the company’s success possible. With its new, ground‐breaking and innovative motorhomes, CUVs and caravans, Knaus Tabbert will thrill visitors at the CMT 2019.

KNAUS, WEINSBERG, TABBERT, T@B, MORELO and RENT AND TRAVEL – Knaus Tabbert presents all three brands in three halls at the CMT: C2, 3 (MORELO, Stand 3A52) and 7 (KNAUS and WEINSBERG CUVs, Stand 7A52).

New door for Knaus Tabbert vehicles

For model year 2019, the largest portion of the Knaus Tabbert GmbH vehicles will get a new door featuring numerous improvements and unique selling points, which provide the company’s products with an even higher quality. The door is – depending on the vehicle model – either 600 or 700 mm wide and is defined by its optimal locking behaviour: on the handle with horizontal and vertical access points, the door can be easily and comfortably closed – and it shuts with a damped and saturated closing noise (much like a car door).  It has a closing mechanism with latch lock, lock‐out protection as well as a locking display, also based on the models used in the automotive industry. The door’s locking claw was also improved. It now only protrudes slightly into the door opening, therefore there is no getting caught in, or bumping into, the door upon leaving or entering the vehicle. In the COMFORT version of the door, the light grey interior lining is designed in carbon grain; in the PREMIUM and EXKLUSIV version, it is designed in leather grain. For all door models, the door panel has two foldable clothes hooks. Additional features of the PREMIUM and EXKLUSIV door: Material‐leather applications for a harmonious feeling of well‐being. In the lower level, there are two additional hooks upon which a lovingly designed textile carrying bag, which is closable per magnet snapper, optimally finds the correct position. Furthermore, the door has a moisture‐sensitive umbrella compartment. A wide window in Privacy Black allows lots of natural light into the interior while simultaneously impeding the vision of overly curious, unwanted guests. It can also be shaded by using a blind that ensures additional shading in a variety of settings. With the caravan models with central locking system, a coming‐home function is additionally integrated into the window (EXKLUSIV version):  The LEDs inserted there illuminate when the vehicle key is pressed. Also new: The divided door is no longer part of the caravan. This results in a soft, clear optics of the surface, which is perfectly integrated into the appealing caravan’s design.

KNAUS

The KNAUS motorhomes begin the 2019 model year in even better shape. For all KNAUS motorhomes, the customer benefit is increased due to the gas bottle door integrated into the side wall: easily accessible, functional and practically aligned, clearly designed, and lockable. If requested, motorhomes such as caravans can be equipped with the exclusive KNAUS 17‟ alloy wheels. Both variants – black polished or titanium painted – give the vehicle a distinctive look. The new KNAUS CAT EYE evolution rear tail lights also help ensure this look: With their characteristic cat‐eye form, three‐dimensional illumination geometry, and LED blinker bar for the unique KNAUS night‐time signature, they add to the vehicle’s identity and offer a high degree of recognition value. And the new KNAUS cabin doors do not just significantly improve the design of the motorhomes and caravan, but they underscore the premium demand of the vehicles through an unmistakeable haptic design as well as through noticeably better functionality that’s in line with a passenger car.
Also new: L!VE TI and L!VE WAVE with the 650 MF, each receive an additional floorplan that includes a French bed. New highlights and features are also available from KNAUS motorhomes: even more user‐friendly for model year 2019 is the support wheel with load indicator. It’s available as a standard feature in the SÜDWIND, the new SPORT SILVER SELECTION as well as in the SCANDINAVIAN SELECTION, and if desired it’s also available for all other caravans. The STARCLASS, which is only available in Great Britain, has been equipped with a folding bed in its floorplan 695 as an option for additional sleeping area as well as new modern upholsteries.

Motorhomes

SUN I

Whether as a 2– or 3‐axle vehicle, the SUN I always offers a bit more of everything. In short: sheer luxury. And as if that wasn’t already enough, improvement and a new evolutionary design are being included in the 2019 models: the bonnet and radiator grille have been plastically reworked, with succinct edges and optimised proportions. This has led to an unmistakeable, front with a distinctive design. The new film graphic with chrome applications as well as the side window shades with „SUN I‟ branding, give the liner a modern and unique design. This is supported through optionally available new KNAUS alloy wheels. Further exterior highlights: the 700 mm wide KNAUS EXKLUSIV door with coming‐home lighting and central locking function. Even more travel comfort and safety are offered through the dead‐spot warning system in the rear‐view mirror. The 3‐axle SUN I also comes standard with an electrical discharge valve with optional wastewater valve camera. The new upholstery variant LAS VEGAS ensures a friendly, modern, luxurious and cosy feeling. The Dometic refrigerator in the Series 10 with double‐sided latches (in the 3‐axle vehicle) can be opened to both the left and the right. The networked on‐board technology results in the highest level of operating comfort: Via the intuitive touch operating panel, all important functions and fill levels as well as temperature and vehicle functions can be managed.

SKY I

Even the SKY I contains an evolutionary redesign of the front through a redesign of the radiator grille and bonnet. In addition, the radiator grill is optionally adorned with chrome trim. The side window panel in special design as with the SUN I can be ordered separately upon request. Through the new wide PREMIUM door, the entrance into the vehicle is made easier and more comfortable. The rear‐view mirror with dead‐spot warning systems can also be ordered. The wide door in a new design leads to more comfort. The SKY I is entering the new model year with the four well‐known floorplans 650 LEG, 700 LEG, 700 LG and 700 LX, whereby the 650 LEG will be receiving a new floorplan layout. Beginning in model year 2019, customers will have an additional seat from which to choose. Not only the front, but also the rear of the vehicle was redesigned: just as SKY TI and SKY WAVE, the SKY I will receive a new tail light moulding that – in combination with the KNAUS CAT EYE evolution tail lights – will give the back of the vehicle a distinctive, clear design. In addition to the new door, the three SKY models are equipped with collapsible drapes in the vehicle interior.

VAN TI PLUS

KNAUS is well‐known for its innovative spirit and speed – and for the 2019 model year, the company is living up to this claim with strong and innovative new developments. The new KNAUS VAN TI PLUS is setting entirely new benchmarks: based on the MAN TGE, the VAN TI PLUS is introduced as a newly designed model. In a unique way, it combines the advantages of the VAN TI with automotive features – and is therefore a statement for dynamics, comfort and sporty design. The series model is equipped with front‐wheel drive as standard, or the VAN TI PLUS can also be fitted with rear‐wheel drive on request. All‐wheel drive is also possible – direct from the factory, with full functionality and operability, meaning no need for expensive upgrades. The VAN TI PLUS is equipped with an 8‐speed automatic transmission to increase travelling comfort even more. This way, the vehicle meets all demands and customer benefit is hugely increased. Added safety features are the emergency braking and hill‐assist function, as well as of course the series ESP and ABS. Außerdem sind zahlreiche weitere Assistenzsysteme für höchsten Fahrkomfort möglich. This means it doesn’t matter whether front‐wheel, rear‐wheel or all‐wheel drive is fitted – the MAN assistance systems are available for any version:

  • Lane departure warning assistance: The standard electromechanical power steering corrects your lane, if necessary, with gentle steering intervention – without rough braking.
  • Multi‐functional brake
  • Fatigue recognition
  • Automatic road sign detection
  • Rear‐view camera
  • Adaptive cruise control (ACC)
  • High‐beam assistant

The VAN TI PLUS enters the new model year with two floorplans (650 MEG and 700 LF); both floorplans convince with their well‐thought‐out details. In the interior – through a distinctive design and the use of high‐quality furniture – the vehicle has a cosy living atmosphere. The driver’s cabin is harmoniously integrated into the living space. This can be comfortably separated from the sleeping quarters using a pleated room divider. The spacious bath includes a wash basin that can be swivelled as well as a large cabinet that is equipped with practical storage compartments. Thanks to a well‐conceived, innovative solution, the 700 LF can be optionally equipped with four instead of two seats for driving operations: With just a few simple steps, the seating group can be converted into two comfortable travel seats – with a secured three‐point belt and sitting position in the direction of travel. These seats that are both integrated into the seating group – one on the driver’s side, one of the passenger’s side – have an adjustable backrest as well as a leg rest for comfortable sitting, even on long journeys. In the design of the seating group, KNAUS placed great value in creating a cosy and comfortable lounge for all living situations, without making compromises in the driving conditions. The 650 MEG has a pull‐out dinette seating bench, which enables the flexible expansion of the seating area. Through the efficient use of space, the highest level of living comfort results – even with the vehicle’s compact exterior dimensions. This way, the VAN TI PLUS is also perfect for narrow streets or city traffic – a true all‐round talent. Even in terms of its technology! For the first time, the standard networked on‐board electronics are available ex works. For more user friendliness, the Energy Plus Package with a touch‐screen operating panel featuring an intelligent docking station and gel batteries in connection with battery sensors can be installed. The exterior of the new semi‐integrated caravans makes an impression due to its KNAUS CAT EYE Evolution rear taillights with „swiping‟ LED blinker feature, which also make the vehicle particularly safe due to the conspicuousness of the blinker. The innovative base model offers previously unknown driving comfort and impresses with perfect insulating properties. In this vehicle class, the aluminium‐on‐aluminium side walls are truly unique and also ensure optimal insulation.
VAN TI PLUS, that means: a unique living experience, superior driving dynamics and safety through numerous assistance systems – and all of that at an unbeatable price‐performance ratio. And if help is required at some point: in a large international network of MAN locations, there is always – around the clock – a service partner near you, regardless of where you currently are.
KNAUS and MAN TGE – an excellent team.
By the way: Everyone who doesn’t only want to see the KNAUS VAN TI PLUS but would also like to experience the unique driving comfort of the MAN TGE in person can do so at the CMT in Stuttgart: all interested trade fair visitors can register for an exclusive test drive at the two vehicles on display in Hall C2.

SPORT SILVER SELECTION

An unbeatable multi‐talented vehicle – that’s the SPORT. For the new model year, the SPORT is now also available as a fully‐equipped SILVER SELECTION special model with new exterior and interior design: the KNAUS CAT EYE evolution rear tail lights as well as the dynamic special model adhesive film that provides the exterior with a modern appearance. This is further enhanced by the standard, titanium varnished 17‟ alloy wheels in the exclusive KNAUS Design. In the interior, a new furniture design creates an attractive contrast between dark wooden décor and light elements. The standard equipment of the SILVER SELECTION special model includes support wheel with support load, ambient lighting including kitchen back panelling in the design of the worktop, vent window hood in the bathroom including blind, insect screen door, a comprehensive electrical outlet package inside as well as a combination external outlet, a removable and rollable 25‐litre wastewater tank, a swivel TV attachment, and lots more. In addition, the floorplans 460 EU, 500 EU and 540 EU also have a roller bed function for expanding the single beds. In comparison to the series model with corresponding equipment, SPORT SILVER SELECTION has an enormous price advantage. With a total of 15 floorplans, the special model meets all individual demands. The 650 UDF receives a Sky Roof, which allows lots of natural light into the interior during the day. In the evening, you can lay back and enjoy an unobstructed view of the stars. The 500 QDK and 580 QS were also optimised: the new optional 3‐bed bunk bed in the rear can quickly be converted into a small seat bench or, if required, also a small transport garage – this way, the SPORT SILVER SELECTION shows that it is both the perfect as well as most inexpensive family caravan. The 500 FDK is replaced by the spacious 500 FDK with the standard 142‐litre refrigerator.

SÜDWIND

For the new model year, the iconic KNAUS SÜDWIND was completely redesigned from both the inside and the outside. The newly designed exterior leads the new DESEO design language with the distinctive design strip that circles the vehicle and that seamlessly merges into the new rear tail light carrier with CAT EYE evolution tail lights. The new 700‐mm wide KNAUS KOMFORT door is also standard. In the interior, bright furniture with horizontal wood grain and stainless‐steel design accents provide for a pleasing, homely ambience. The series equipment of the SÜDWIND includes a support wheel with support load indicator, AAA brakes, a large refrigerator (depending on the layout, either 142– or 190‐litre; except for the 460 EU),  LED interior lighting as well as pleated curtains. The SÜDWIND has a portfolio of 15 completely newly designed floorplans – from four to seven metres in length. This way, everyone will find „their own‟ floorplan, whether travelling with a large family or as a couple. Front kitchen, rear bath, single beds, children’s bunk beds, double bed and lots more – the new SÜDWIND offers countless possibilities. It is also available as a SCANDINAVIAN SELECTION (exclusively in the Scandinavian countries).  In this version, it also has a new product graphic design and the new rear tail light carrier with the KNAUS CAT EYE evolution tail lights. The optional equipment on the SCANDINAVIAN SELECTION includes both the support wheel with load display as well as the self‐adjusting AL‐KO AAA brake.

WEINSBERG

For the WEINSBERG motorhomes and caravans, the new model year has brought a lot of changes. The caravans have been given even more stability through 5‐spoke alloy wheels as well as energy‐saving, pleasant LED illumination in series. As an option, a support wheel with support load indicator can be ordered. There is also a practical garment rail in the bathroom; the motorhomes also come with this feature. For 2019, these have additionally been equipped with the new KOMFORT cabin door, if desired in the PREMIUM version.

Motorhomes

CaraCompact EDITION [PEPPER]

“The VW Golf among the motorhomes‟ – that was the headline appearing in various online media. The CaraCompact EDITION [PEPPER] remains the most widely sold and successful motorhome in Europe. The vehicle now rides even more smoothly on the two well‐known floorplans 600 MEG and 600 MG than ever before: it now comes standard with 160‐hp engine with ABS, ESP, and Hill Holder as well as a REMIS driver’s compartment shading feature and the new KOMFORT cabin door. Further equipment highlights for the special model: electrically adjustable and heated side‐view mirrors, cruise control, tyre pressure monitoring system, multimedia device with DAB+ and rear‐view camera, 16‟ alloy wheels, complete antenna system, incl. 21.5‟ LED TV and TV holder, navigation system with three‐years of card updates and camping software, side awning, a second garage door on the left, comfortable operation of the heating and climate control system through Truma iNet System, large stainless steel sink, and a whole lot more. The PEPPER based on the Peugeot offers a significant plus on valuable equipment at a more than fair WEINSBERG price.

CaraHome

The successful CaraCompact has already demonstrated that WEINSBERG and Peugeot are a strong team. And the CaraHome is doing it in the same way for the 2019 model year. The series that features alcoves is now available in three tried‐and‐tested floorplans – 550 MG, 600 DKG and 700 DG on Peugeot basis. Also on board: the Peugeot assistance systems, such as the Lane Departure Warning System, AEBS/distance warning, Intelligent Traction Control and Hill Assist. Furthermore, the CaraHome is also being equipped with the new door. All of this will make the family‐friendly, spacious and simultaneously dynamically elegant motorhome even more attractive.

Caravans

CaraTwo

Functionality and style – that’s what CaraTwo stands for. Its four successful floorplans (390 QD, 400 LK, 450 FU and 500 QDK) will continue – with a new cabin door – into the new model year. Whereby we’ve optimised the 500 QDK family floorplan (with up to 7 places to sleep): Open lines of sight and a spaciously designed floorplan define the interior. Special equipment highlights: the optional, multifunctional 3‐person bunk bed. Through the middle bed’s folding function, the laying area becomes a backrest, whereby a children’s seating area is created. By folding up the lower bed, a well‐sized storage compartment is possible. This is accessible from both the inside and the outside. Moreover, as an additional option, a large garage door is available so that even bicycles can be easily transported. For the new model year, the CaraTwo also receives a new upholstery: in addition to the well‐known upholstery series ICEWATER and CURRY YELLOW, the design upholstery AZTEKA GREY is now also available. The light grey with the exotic‐geometric design shade is rounded off through accents in elegant Bordeaux.

TABBERT

Even the TABBERT models will receive numerous improvements in the 2019 model year, among them the new cabin door beginning from the VIVALDI series. What’s more: as a standard, all caravans now have a support wheel with a weighing device, which display the vertical load (not possible with a 3.5‐tonne chassis).  Beyond this, the illumination entrance step on all models featuring the TABBERT logotype will be renewed – for more functionality and comfort. When opened, the new mosquito net door completed disappears into the door frame, resulting in a large, comfortably accessible entrance. The PUCCINI is receiving a high‐quality and simultaneously easy‐to‐care‐for new fender application in silver metallic.

All series

For the new model year, all TABBERT models will receive improvements in the interior: the TABBERT comfort sleeping system was optimized using water gel mattresses (comes standard in all French Models).  They adjust to the shape of the body and ensure relaxing sleep with optimal regulation of moisture. The new equipment highlights also include a microwave in the kitchen (depending on the model),  foldable clothes hooks in the living area, as well as a new, high‐quality side wall decoration in a timeless colour tone, which makes the interior warm and inviting. In the ROSSINI 620 DM, the lower foldable children’s bunk bed can be easily and quickly transformed into a small seating group with a side table. By opening the additional garage door, it is possible to swivel the table to the outside and to use it as a bar – whereby the garage door can serve as a service hatch. In addition, the ROSSINI, like the DA VINCI and PUCCINI, has a new modern elegant upholstery that makes the interior even more stylish and more comfortable than before.

VIVALDI

For model year 2019, the interior of the VIVALDI, the timeless best‐selling model, is being upgraded with a new design and even better equipment options: the large, double‐hinged Dometic Series 10 refrigerator (153‐litre volume) can be opened from both sides. This way, you can also access the refrigerator from the outside without having to go back inside the caravan. Through the Truma combination heating and optional air conditioning, the right interior temperature can be achieved at any time of year. Furthermore, the VIVALDI has the Truma i‐Net‐System as a standard feature. The temperature can be set using a smartphone and the gas fill level can also optionally be checked remotely. Using light colour tones, the new interior design is particularly inviting: white furniture areas, light wood, grey tones on the side walls, floors and counter top areas. The new upholstery in beige and brown tones fit perfectly in the modern room design. Truly unique is also the design of the furniture: straight block shapes, rounded corner forms, silver lines – the newly designed VIVALDI is a loft on wheels. The energy‐saving LED illumination supports and complements the stylishly elegant design and immerses the interior in a pleasant light. And what’s more: if desired, the bathroom can be equipped with a skylight (280 x 280 mm).  The VIVALDI is racing into the 2019 model year with more than just a new design and new equipment – the series also features four new floorplans. The 490 TD replaces the 480 TD – this makes it possible to house a large round seating group and a linen closet. With its compact size, in the 550 DF, you will find a free‐standing double bed as well as centre double dinette. At the same time, a generous sense of space is created through open lines of sight. The family floorplan 560 DM was replaced by the 560 EMK so that the floorplan portfolio is enhanced by a layout with single and bunk beds. The 685 DF is upgraded through a comfortable open bathroom. The range still includes: 460 E, 550 E 2,3, 550 E 2,5, 560 TD and 560 TDL.

DA VINCI FINEST EDITION

Family‐friendly, spaciously designed, equipped with numerous well thought out details – that is the DA VINCI. For the new model year, the model will be even more attractive, since it is also available as a comprehensively equipped FINEST EDITION in the well‐known 11 floorplans. Quality, design and equipment show lots of love for detail. The FINEST EDITION offers the following features standard: silver light alloy wheels, AL‐KO Big Foot heavy‐duty supports, insect protection door, illuminated dimmable illuminated awning trim, awning light with motion detector, combination external outlet, 22‟ TV swivel arm for flatscreen TV, ambient lighting as well as Truma MonoControl CS including gas filter‐ in order to name the most important highlights. In comparison to the series model with the same equipment, DA VINCI FINEST EDITION has an enormous price advantage.

T@B

It has its own superhero (T@BMAN), but the true hero is the vehicle itself: the popular retro T@B caravan has become a timeless classic. And, as such, it can hardly get any better – especially not in terms of the details. For the 2019 model year, the vehicle was given a new cooker with cast iron grate, which enables comfortable cooking with pots and pans of all sizes. The heating system has an electric ignition, which starts up quietly and comfortably. As usual, the T@B is available in four styles and four different furniture colours, for a personal look – regardless of whether you would prefer a colourful or plain design. For the new model year, the floorplan descriptions have also been changed: the 320 RS now becomes the 320, the 400 TD is now the 400. To focus the colour kits, the models Basic, Mexican Sunset, and Metropolis are now available with the 320 and 400 floorplans at the corresponding base prices. The off‐road is available with the 320.

RENT AND TRAVEL

Are you going on a camping trip, but it’s your first time in a motorhome? No problem – use the RENT AND TRAVEL service. Simply visit one of the 350 partner travel agencies in Germany and ask for advice on everything – from choosing the right rental vehicle, to determining your route. First‐time campers also receive professional support from over 120 rental stations throughout Germany, which provide more than 1450 rental vehicles from the KNAUS and WEINSBERG brands, and clearly explain all the functions of the motorhome. Anyone who is interested can find out more on the RENT AND TRAVEL website (www.rentandtravel.de) and hire a vehicle from there directly. It is not only the cooperation partners – such as Top Camping Austria, Landvergnügen, and Yes We Camp – but also the so‐called road teams that contribute to this success and attract great interest when they take „branded‟ vehicles to city festivals, Sunday shopping events, etc. in Germany. Since RENT AND TRAVEL was founded in 2016, the network of partner travel agencies and rental stations, and the customer base, have expanded constantly – and not just in Germany. RENT AND TRAVEL is thereby aiming to become the number one rental brand for new customers. The first step abroad was in Great Britain. RENT AND TRAVEL is cooperating with Bunk Campers – a motorhome rental service in Northern Ireland. Bunk Campers has its head office in Belfast, and mainly offers WEINSBERG vehicles for campers who want to hire them. Other rental stations are located in Ireland (Dublin),  Scotland (Edinburgh) and England (Birmingham, London).  With this cooperation, RENT AND TRAVEL has gained a professional partner with decades of experience in the rental industry. RENT AND TRAVEL customers can therefore reserve a rental vehicle in Edinburgh, through their local travel agent in Germany. There will be more locations in Britain to follow. RENT AND TRAVEL also works with the importer Bergholm in Sweden. For decades, Bergholm has worked with Knaus Tabbert as an importer of motorhomes and caravans and is now planning to expand the rental market in Sweden with RENT AND TRAVEL. The first planned rental stations are located in Stockholm and Gothenburg, and other cities will be added to the programme. The Scandinavian countries – Sweden in particular – are popular camping destinations, as staff at the RENT AND TRAVEL partner travel agencies find out in their everyday business activity. Thanks to the launch of the rental service in Sweden, these customers’ demands will also be met in the future. RENT and TRAVEL also found a new partner in Iceland: In cooperation with Europcar, a rental station is now planned for opening in Reykjavik. In 2019, the multifaceted holiday destination of Italy will also be bookable through RENT AND TRAVEL: Customers can pick up their vehicle from rental stations located in Venice, Milan and Bologna.

The CUVs (Caravanning Utility Vehicle) by KNAUS and WEINSBERG

The CUV (Caravanning Utility Vehicle) – a new type of vehicle defined and established by Knaus Tabbert – is best described as being more than just your average motorhome, and a vehicle with that certain something. CUVs are synonymous with adventure, holidays, leisure and spontaneity. New, innovative, future‐oriented. Whether you are going on an adventure through the countryside, a city break, or a summer/winter holiday, a CUV is built for everything. A CUV is the perfect accessory for active leisure time and is ideal as a second car and an everyday vehicle. Excellent use of space and the highest level of living comfort in compact dimensions ensures safe and comfortable travelling and living.
The CUVs from KNAUS and WEINSBERG would not be CUVs if they had not been improved for model year 2019 – both in terms of their sleek external appearance and new modern interior design – as well as technically. The placement of heavy components, such as the fresh water tank and the vehicle batteries above the rear axle, and the positioning of the 20% flatter grey water tank near the rear axle, ensure perfect handling of the vehicle. Thanks to the integration of the new 105 litre water tank in the side wall around the wheelhouse, sufficient space is saved to allow the new CUVs to offer up to 25% more storage space. Insulation free of thermal bridges in the bodywork, insulation of the windows and rear doors, as well as the warm airflow from the freshwater tank and frost‐protected water pipes make the CUVs completely winterproof. A heated waste water tank with insulation hood is also optionally available. The new grooved 25 mm floor structure – which is in a sandwich design with integral insulation – is positioned on the base plate of the base vehicle. This therefore offers 370% more supporting surface on the body floor, as well as 70% more EPS insulation. This prevents cold voids from forming under the base plate – condensation is not a problem. The floor structure is firmer, more stable, and highly insulating. There is also more headroom. The heating system, which is centrally positioned beneath the dinette seating, ensures less noise in the sleeping area, and for considerably better energy and heat distribution throughout the vehicle. The optimised heating system also includes a temperature‐controlled pedestal in the dinette seating area, so that warm feet are always guaranteed in the winter. The pedestal is also designed so that passengers can comfortably put their feet down when they turn their seats round. Another optional extra which is available for KNAUS and WEINSBERG CUVs is electric underfloor heating.
The „suspended‟ luxury entry table, which is attached to the wall, enables easy and unimpeded access to the dinette – without any obstacles such as bothersome table legs – as well as enough space to comfortably stretch your legs out. The kitchen has been optimised in all dimensions, which creates more space and a greater passage width in the vehicle. All CUVs are equipped with electric ignition, as well as large, energy‐efficient compressor fridges. The entire interior is lit by energy‐saving LED lighting – some of which is operated by a touch function. On request, the CUVs also can be ordered with air conditioning and a SAT/TV system. Another new feature: the comfortable bathroom, which has been adapted to the new design. The light, welcoming design and carefully thought out furniture and assembly constructions give it a large, spacious appearance. And not just visually: there is more headroom in both the lounge and the bathroom. Various storage compartments and shelves offer maximum storage space and make organisation easier. The free‐standing shower tray with low access, and the 4 cm lower toilet with an ergonomic shape, provide additional comfort and more legroom. Additional plus points: the space‐saving shower curtain with a magnetic latch (WEINSBERG),  and the large mirror. The bathroom can be optionally equipped with ambient lighting, and an integrated window with a roller blind and insect screen.

KNAUS

Spacious on the inside and compact on the outside – CUVs from KNAUS are ideal vehicles for travelling and everyday use, or as a second car, and provide a unique yet diverse sense of freedom on four wheels. In short: The inside seems bigger than the outside.

BOXLIFE

The completely new BOXLIFE is variable like no other – CUV expertise redefined in terms of perfection, space and function. With its wide range of possibilities, it is the most variable vehicle in its class: Whether enjoying an active holiday with e‐bikes or diving equipment, an excursion with the family, a relaxing weekend trip for two or a short trip to the local DIY store – the BOXLIFE is the perfect individual companion for everyone and everything. Not either‐or, but full of spontaneity on holiday as well as in everyday life – because BOXLIFE does everything. Five floorplans (540 MQ, 600 DQ, 600 ME, 600 MQ and 630 ME) with up to six places to sleep meet all customer demands. Furthermore, there is room for two bicycles and, at the same time, lots of storage space for various types of camping and sports equipment. All floorplans have a standard rear lifting bed under which an optional extra bed can be stored. If desired, 600 DQ and 630 ME can also be ordered with a rear lifting bed or also with both options (extra bed and rear lifting bed) so that the motorhome can sleep up to six people. The BOXLIFE impresses with an attractive, modern interior design featuring clear contours and a new indirect lighting concept. The optimised viewing angles create a unique feeling of space. The fabric sidewall cladding creates a pleasant room climate. Low sitting position as well as overhead storage cupboards and drawers with soft‐close function ensure maximum comfort as well as provide maximum storage space. The full‐carcase construction with dowel technology guarantees the furniture’s highest level of robustness. The exterior with curved foil graphic reflects the varied, dynamic character of the vehicle and gives it a high level of recognisability. The standard diesel heating means the rear vehicle area is more spacious and variable than ever before – and this without compromising the high quality of living comfort. In the easily accessible gas bottle locker, there is space for a 2.7 kg camping gas bottle – more gas is not needed for cooking thanks to the diesel‐powered heating. Convenient: Gas bottles of this size are not only available in specialist stores, but also in most DIY stores. The BOXLIFE can also be equipped with numerous optional extras, such as a rear exterior shower, air conditioning, electrical entrance step or bike rack. Unique design, uncompromising equipment, maximal flexibility – more CUV than BOXLIFE is not possible.

BOXSTAR

A travel camper in which you can relax, and which is perfect for any holiday – that’s the impressive BOXSTAR. In model year 2019, it is even more impressive and convincing, thanks to its new features! Furniture with a new design and contoured shape, light wood veneers and light touches, and indirect LED lighting all give the interior a friendly and welcoming look. The wall panelling has a pleasant touch and feel and creates a better indoor climate. Lots of compartments means a lot of storage space. Some of them are fitted with an acrylic panel and a rail, so that nothing can fall out. They also look good and contribute to the overall image of the BOXSTAR. The kitchen has a practical folding workspace extension, as well as large drawers with soft‐close runners and elegant metal sealing. The sink fits perfectly into the work surface, and the work surface pattern helps to create a large, harmoniously designed kitchen. The recess below the work space offers space for the optional KNAUS‐branded textile shopping bag. The exterior of the BOXSTAR has also been re‐designed. The curved foil graphic demonstrates the dynamic character of the CUV at first glance. The BOXSTAR is available with 17‐inch KNAUS alloy wheels, giving it an even more casual look on the road. Innovative features and an uncompromising design – the new BOXSTAR leaves nothing to be desired.

BOXDRIVE

Combining KNAUS innovation and proven VW quality gives a unique result: the BOXDRIVE. For the new model year, the KNAUS CUV on a VW Crafter base has been transferred from the limited FIRST EDITIONS to the series model range, with improved features: The rear bed can be easily lifted and, in this transport mode, enables optimal access to the storage area in the rear of the vehicle – without first having to move aside mattresses or bed linens. Just like its fellow CUVS, BOXSTAR and BOXLIFE, the BOXDRIVE can be optionally equipped with a cupboard which has a fabric door. The door is attached to the bottom of a slatted frame with loops. The false floor of the cupboard can be removed. It is also possible to exchange the textile door for the net door provided, and to use the cupboard as a dog box instead. On request, the BOXDRIVE can be equipped with 17‐inch KNAUS alloy wheels, giving it an even stronger vehicle character. Several innovative driver assistance systems, a highly dynamic coordinated chassis and high‐quality furniture – the BOXDRIVE is synonymous with driving pleasure, functionality, quality, safety and comfort.

WEINSBERG

Celebrating 50 years of WEINSBERG CUVs

A maximum level of living comfort on the basis of a utility vehicle minus any cumbersome structures – the fundamental concept of the CUV has always been well‐loved. And in 1969, the first WEINSBERG Caravanning Utility Vehicle – a compact camper with pop‐top roof on the basis of the Fiat 238 – offered precisely that. The grandfather of CUVs measured 4.6 metres long and was not only incredibly roomy, but also more flexibly constructed than even some of today’s models. It included a sink, refrigerator and rear seating group – which could be converted into a large twin bed – meaning it was essentially a fully equipped motorhome. However, all of the furniture could be removed in only a few steps, thereby enabling the CUV to also be used as a small transport vehicle with an astounding 6.5 m3 of loading volume. The vehicle, which was manufactured by the former „Karosseriewerke Weinsberg‟ and later was available as model 238 E in the new Cosmos version, was extremely successful and subsequently led to an increase in caravan production. From that moment forward, WEINSBERG Motorhomes played an increasingly prominent role in both the domestic and international markets. Further models followed across an extensive range of basis vehicles, such as Fiat, VW, Peugeot, Mitsubishi, Nissan, Opel and Mercedes‐Benz, upon which the first WEINSBERG Oribiter was built.
At the beginning of the 1980s, the Fiat Ducato ultimately replaced the model 238. It established the basis for the iconic CUV, Cosmas, which was available with a pop‐up flat roof (Type FD) or with an insulated elevated roof (Type HD).  The HD luxury version also featured an on‐board washroom. In 1992 the motorhome division of Karosseriewerke Weinsberg was sold to Tabbert Industrie AG, the model range was converted and the Cosmos was discontinued. However, after the incorporation of the Knaus Tabbert Group GmbH ten years later, the WEINSBERG brand changed owners and the Cosmos – as an all‐wheel drive model based on the Fiat Ducato – experienced a rebirth in 2003: either as a 551 K with bunk beds in the rear and compressor refrigerator or as 551 MQ with twin beds in the rear. A short time later, the X‐Cursion was introduced. It was a camper van with tilt‐up roof and was based on the Renault Trafic, albeit without all‐wheel drive but with an affordable retail price of €30,000.
Finally in 2008/2009, in the newly formed Knaus Tabbert GmbH, the WEINSBERG brand was realigned – successfully in every imaginable way, even with the CUVs: all of the company’s experience as well as 50‐years of CUV expertise have been poured into the traditional brand for the current CaraBus and CaraTour models. By the way: a well‐preserved version of the original 1969 model is currently being reconditioned and lovingly restored at the plant in Jandelsbrunn.

CaraTour und CaraBus

Casual and modern, equipped with thoughtful details, and all for an incomparable price‐performance ratio. In fact, WEINSBERG CUVs are already perfect. They will be even more perfect in model year 2019.
CaraTour and CaraBus – different in design, but identical in lay‐out and equipment – are even more practical, functional and modern. They offer more living and storage space and have a new design. The exteriors of both vehicles have a high recognition factor, thanks to the striking foil graphics. On the interior, the upholstery is available in the updated ALU design, as well as in the TURIN, ACTIVE ROCK and SZECHUAN variants. The EFFECT ULME furniture decoration gives the CaraBus a classic yet fresh note. With MALI ACACIA furniture, the CaraTour looks modern and casual. The solid body design which has been realised using dowel technology, and a new rail system for greater torsion resistance of the construction and expansion, ensure that the furniture is completely robust. Rounded profiles in the entrance area and the seating area have a calm and modern look. The seating area in the dinette has a comfort function to help you to feel more relaxed. It is also easier to take your place in the seating area, as the Comfort Entry table does not have any bothersome table legs. The new bow cabinet has a storage compartment with removable shelves, meaning that it is possible to install a TV with a screen size of up to 24‟ in it. The kitchen of the WEINSBERG CUVs has a clear, tidy appearance, thanks to the new design and the hob/sink combination with separate glass covers. Several kitchen utensils can be found in the large drawers and behind the hatches. In most lay‐outs, the standard 95 litre compressor fridge can be exchanged for a 150‐litre slim tower fridge on request.
The 600 MQH floorplan deserves specific mention: with the new MQH Elevated Roof, WEINSBERG is raising the bar in the industry. The vehicle captivates through a unique design that includes a new vehicle form and a high level of recognisability: both the distinctive vehicle front with an optional panoramic roof and the new sporty design of the side panels make the vehicle unmistakeable. The same applies to the redesigned rear of the vehicle based on the Fiat design, which also includes an extra rear window upon request. Thanks to the integral construction of the roof, both the CaraTour and the CaraBus 600 MQH have a reduced structural height. In detail, that means: the structures – such as the rear roof hood, air conditioning or SAT‐TV system – are integrated into the continuation of the roof area. This ensures that the vehicle is not significantly higher due to the superstructure. Another characteristic feature of the new elevated roof is the sandwich structure with integrated insulating layer, which provides better protection against cold and heat. In addition, the elevated roof’s new design ensures that rainwater can drain off optimally meaning there is no longer an excuse for getting wet, for example when opening the door following a heavy downpour. The vehicle is suitable for four persons and is even ideal for taller campers, as it offers plenty of headroom and a great feeling of space. This is also due to the new furniture design and the integration of additional storage space throughout the interior. Particularly clever: the new EasySlide Front Bed in the MQH can easily be moved into a sleep position and offers a stately sleeping area of 203 x 135 cm. The elevated roof comes standard with two roof hoods and two additional side windows.
There is storage space of up to 975 litres in the rear section of the CaraTour and CaraBus, meaning that they have the largest storage space in their class. The 600 MQ, 600 DQ, 600 K, and 600 MQH have a 152 cm storage space in the shoulder section. The fabric covering on the underside of the storage compartment above the head board creates a cosy cocoon effect. Two LED reading lights with a touch function, the low bed height and the breathable fabric covering on the side walls ensure extra comfort. The WEINSBERG CUVs are also available with a cupboard with a fabric door. The door is attached to the bottom of a slatted frame with loops, and the cupboard can be turned into a dog box using the net door provided. Several other options make the vehicle design more personal: framed windows, CO gas censor/smoke detector, leather trimmings in the kitchenette, ambient lighting, a third skylight and water gel mattress are just some examples. CaraTour and CaraBus head into the new model year with seven basic lay‐outs: 540 MQ, 600 MQ, 600 DQ, 600 K, 600 MQH, 600 ME and 630 ME.

Show cars

KNAUS CUVision und WEINSBERG CUVolution

Two extraordinary show cars will be presented in Stuttgart, to provide visitors with an exciting look at the future of the CUV with Knaus Tabbert. The striking vehicle fronts of the two CUV trial cars are definitely their most noticeable features. The WEINSBERG CUVolution on a Fiat base is greatly emphasised by its characteristic colour scheme and massive air intake slots. Broad decorative strips in matt anthracite create a skilful contrast to the Liquid Chrome orange paint. The imposing fenders on the sides highlight the vehicles’ distinctive appearance and protect them from smaller bumps. 20‐inch rims with 255/45 R20 tyres, a lower suspension, bumper with skid plates, racing look side skirts and the rear diffuser with tailpipes give the CUVolution a sporty look. The roof spoiler not only looks good and highlights the vehicle’s dynamic appearance – it also improves the vehicle’s aerodynamics.
The KNAUS CUVision is based on the MAN TGE. KNAUS has been cooperating successfully with the Bavarian‐based commercial vehicle manufacturer since the beginning of the year, as evidenced by the impressive VAN TI PLUS. The CUVision is impressive with its imposing front spoiler, which skilfully incorporates the design theme of the Xenon headlamps. A tendon‐like chrome clasp on the sides highlights the dynamic profile. There is a striking KNAUS logo on the back. Almost oversized BORBET rims – 22‟ with five spokes – with 255/R22 tyres also ensure safe road holding, even in the most unfavourable conditions, and always provide the KNAUS CUVision with a ’firm grip’ wherever it goes.
Both models, the WEINSBERG CUVolution and the KNAUS CUVision, reflect the goal of Knaus Tabbert GmbH, which is to continue to enrich the campervan sector by offering highly attractive products, further expanding the market for unique CUVs.
