Kalender and Seppänen celebrate fourth win of the season in the WEINSBERG Mercedes AMG GT3

  • Kalender and Seppänen dominate ADAC GT Masters
  • WEINSBERG cars in 1st and 3rd place
  • Exciting season culminates in finale at the Hockenheimring

Jandelsbrunn. “Top performance‟, a term that connects Knaus Tabbert and the ADAC GT Masters. This was impressively demonstrated again last weekend in Spielberg by the driver pairing of Tom Kalender (Hamm/Victory) and Elias Seppänen (FIN) in the WEINSBERG Mercedes‐AMG GT3. The two Landgraf Motorsport drivers initially took third place in the first race and extended their lead in the standings. In the second race on Sunday, the duo showed strong nerves and won the tenth championship race. The title in the tradition‐steeped series is now within reach.

The top three were completed on Sunday by Leon Köhler (Erlenbach am Main) and Maxime Oosten (NL) from FK Performance in their BMW M4 GT3, who are the most persistent pursuers of the top duo of Kalender and Seppänen. At the start on the 4.318 kilometer uphill and downhill track in Styria, pole‐setter Seppänen defended the lead. However, Valente and Oosten in second and third place remained within striking distance. During the mandatory pit stop, Kalender took the wheel of the leading Mercedes AMG, which maintained the top position after the changeover.

“I’m happy that we were able to win the tough duel with the Ferrari and I’m confident of defending the title,‟ said last year’s champion Seppänen. After his fourth win of the season, the 16‐year‐old Kalender was also keen to attack: „I want the title and will give it my all. The team’s good work and past results give me the needed peace of mind.”

In the battle for the championship, Kalender and Seppänen are in the lead with 203 points. Their pursuers Oosten and Köhler are still in the title race, 29 points behind. The best driver in the „Road to DTM‟ classification in Spielberg was Seppänen, who continues to lead the junior class. The grand finale of the ADAC GT Masters will be held at the Hockenheimring in Baden‐Württemberg from October 18 to 20.
